“Buzzreach’s Clinical Trial Ecosystem: A Near-Future Vision of Clinical Trials as Medical Institution-Driven Digitalization Advances”
In recent years, the clinical trial environment has undergone major transformation, creating an urgent need to build a “clinical trial ecosystem” to realize patient-centric clinical trials. In Japan, in particular, improving case accumulation and consolidating clinical trial sites have become key issues. Decentralized clinical trials (DCT) offer a solution to these issues by reducing the burden on participants, expanding participation opportunities, improving case accumulation, and enabling collaboration with partner site regional medical networks. The time has come for this Japanese-style DCT clinical trial format to become the norm in the future. It is attracting attention. In this session, we will consider the direction of DCT suited to the Japanese model, which starts with clinical trial institutions and enables improved case accumulation and the consolidation of clinical trial institutions, based on both domestic and international examples of successful and unsuccessful DCT, and co-creates with partner sites. We will also paint a picture of the near future of the clinical trial industry as digital transformation advances, and discuss how to realize clinical trials that are a win-win for sponsors, medical institutions, and patients.
