We will be co-hosting a seminar and exhibiting a corporate booth at the ARO Council’s 12th Academic Conference in Chiba.

At the ARO Council 12th Academic Conference in Chiba, which will be held on Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th, we will be co-hosting seminars and exhibiting at a corporate booth as detailed below.

This joint luncheon seminar will feature Dr. Ryohei Kuwazuru, former director of Juntendo University Hospital, a member of the Juntendo Clinical Research Core Hospital, and will discuss the theme of clinical trial efficiency from the perspective of hospital management: “The feasibility of data-driven clinical trials and clinical research using hospital big data and the latest technology, and the importance of patient recruitment – how to utilize case accumulation in clinical trials in hospital management.”
Many university hospitals in Japan are being forced to operate at a severe deficit due to rising prices and labor costs, cuts in operating subsidies, and other factors. It has been reported that the percentage of hospitals operating at a loss will reach 86% by fiscal year 2023, making it difficult to maintain stable management through medical revenue alone.

Meanwhile, clinical trial-related operations boast high profitability among non-medical businesses. Data shows that 93% of hospitals are in the black, with operating profit margins reaching approximately 42%*. In other words, even if medical operations are primarily in the red, streamlining clinical trials can become a solid source of revenue that supports hospital management.

Based on these findings, Masafumi Sugimura of Juntendo Information Center Headquarters will present the latest technology-based initiatives at Juntendo Hospital, Genma Matsubara of 4DIN will demonstrate a case study of feasibility services for clinical trials using RWD, and Kasumi Kobayashi of Buzzreach Promotion Headquarters will discuss the concept of patient recruitment utilizing data-driven feasibility.

In recent years, the environment surrounding university hospitals has changed rapidly, calling for a new patient-centered, technology-driven medical environment. In response to this, Juntendo University Hospital is working on cutting-edge initiatives with various IT vendors, including those aimed at streamlining clinical trials and research. This seminar will feature presentations on the “Metaverse Hospital” initiative, which utilizes the metaverse space co-created with IBM, and the utilization of hospital RWD, which 4DIN is working on.

■ Introduction of 4DIN
■ Past efforts with Juntendo University Hospital using Simpl Research
■ Utilization for clinical trials and clinical research feasibility and demo

He will give a lecture with a demo on collaboration with academia using Simpl Research and its use in clinical trials and clinical research feasibility.

Topic 3 : Patient recruitment using data-driven feasibility – How important is it to manage valuable data through operations and connect it to case entry in the utilization of big data?

The use of generative AI and RWD has made it possible to achieve highly accurate feasibility and candidate selection in clinical trials and research using hospital big data. Beyond these technologies, how can we create a system that leverages valuable data all the way to case registration? As a patient recruitment specialist and recruitment manager, Mr. Ito will use his extensive experience with the partner site model to talk about how to connect the latest technology and valuable data to case registration.
